I went out of town for a few weeks and left my parking lights on, The battery is less that 6 months old, do you think it will take a charge and be ok?

Re: charge battery
Won't know until you try, but odds are it will. If the battery accepts the charge, take your truck out and give it a good, long drive.

Re: charge battery
I just faced this situation for a neighbor. It was really dead after a few weeks so I put a trickle-charger on it and at first it showed "0" Amps of charge happening. But after 8 hours or so it was showing 4 AMPs charging rate so I took the charger off and she was able to drive to work (got a nice coffee cake as a reward too!).
Anyway that is how I would do it. I wouldn't try a fast charger and I would let the trickle charger do most of the work to save my alternator the unnecessary wear and tear. -BA

Re: charge battery
dead battery's like this i toss on my charger for a 2-3 hr strech and then off for a few hr's and do this 5-6 times for the day in the shop . this tends to kick them in the butt and wake up . the next day i will leave it on slow all day .

Re: charge battery
Might want to check the voltage after starting the truck and turning it off (or letting it sit for a while) to verify full voltage/charge. Anything less than 12.6V is no bueno.

Re: charge battery
The local store I bought it from was blown away in the hurricane last Oct., a week after I got the new battery. So I'm crossing my fingers and we will see In the morning.
The only gauge in my truck that doesn't work is the voltage...lol |

Re: charge battery
It should come back to life as long as the discharged battery didn’t freeze.

Re: charge battery
Didn't work so I guess I have to return it. I had a old battery but couldn't get it to start, the timing keeps moving on me, I need a better dist. clamp.
But it's not easy finding a NOS one, or even a old one ...everyone sell's these plated crap one's. |

Re: charge battery
I've read that for a really discharged battery, some supposedly smart chargers won't charge. Some say connecting a battery w/ some charge in parallel to the dead one and then connecting the charger can help.
