Re: 68 anniversary C10s guestions
I own one!!!
It's not in great shape now, but is getting money spent on it for parts. I bought it complete in 1980, had no idea there was such a thing as a Golden Anniversary pickup. I was just wanting an old pickup, to use as a pickup. Went to a hole in the wall parts place in Oklahoma City, years ago. I believe the guy's last name was Davis. Told him what I had, then he explained to me WHAT I had. I had not heard from anyone else, for years about what my pickups was. This website has had a lot of knowledge about the "Golden" pickups. THe current state of mine is shabby, to say the least, my plans are to bring it back. All work will be done by me. Many that saw my pickup at various times in the past laughed at me, telling me what a "pile" my old pickup was, and should be scrapped...I never commented to any of these nay sayers, just said, it's MY pickup, I like it, leave me alone!!! Mine is a LWB, 396, TH400, PS PB, AC pickup. Had no carpet in it when I bought it. Had the white embossed vinyl seat covers (of course the drivers was already destroyed...) non posi 3.07 12 bolt. When I went to look at it to potentially purchase it, I was floored that it was a big block!!! Had no idea!!! There was a thread here about possibly making more categories for the web site. I asked about a Golden Category for the 67-72 area. Some liked idea, some not... I will try to post a pic of the SPID some time soon, It's buried in my garage, I hope to do some things in my garage this holiday week end!!! Key word was hope...LOL |
