brake pressure switch, what connector?
Hey guys! I just installed a new pressure switch but can't seem to find a connector that fits over the prongs. I tried a 10-12 butt connecotr but it is to small. Do they make a 10-8? Is there a custom made 2 prong connector for these things?

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
what you need to look for is bullet wire connectors...not sure what size your pins are

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
Yeah I went to Autozone and Advance Auto But couldn't find them. I thought maybe a butt connecotr trimmed down would work, but the largest i could find was 10-12 guage. They are just a little to small. UGH!

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
might check at a electrical supply store...bullet connectors are meant to snap into the groove on the pin...

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
A pair of those Dorman connectors would cost about the same as a small pack of the blue female bullet connectors from O'Rielly's, Autozone or Ace and would be a lot less subject to moisture.
A lot of guy call those bullet connectors Ford connectors as you find them all over 70's, 80's and 90's Fords if not later.

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
I just went out to my parts bin and pushed this blue butt connector onto a Ford-style prong - perfect secure snap fit.
If it were me, I would strip the blue insulator off and use heat shrink tubing to seal it and give it a finished appearance.

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
Theres no way I can get a blue butt connector onto my prongs. I believe blue is what 18 gauge? I tried a 10-12 yellow and it was to tight. Hmmmmmmm

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
If you have a hobby shop near by, bullet connectors are often used for batteries in RC planes and cars.

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
This is correct. This is what you need.
Amazon is really a blessing and a curse. All the shops that would have kept these a decade ago are probably out of business now. As someone mentioned, you need an Electronics Distributor (mostly out of business). An electrical distributor would be a close second, and would likey have them as well. If you can get these guys to sell to you, they probably have them. Rumsey Electric Company Authorized Distributor Details » 2459 Baglyos Cir Bethlehem, Pennsylvania 18020-8025 Phone: 610-832-900018.1 mi 24/7 Emergency: 800-404-6080 I know they are a little far from you. There might be other electrical distributors closer, but these guys would likely have these, based on the other product lines they keep. |

Re: brake pressure switch, what connector?
Thanks guys! Got it taken care of. Actualy Jegs and NAPA both have connectors with rubber bootys on them made specificaly for these brake switches. I found out about them after I used the female bullet conector.

Actualy Jegs has the whole kit........https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS/555/63070K1/10002/-1
I found just the connectors at NAPA hanging on one of their electrical racks. |
