she's on the road
well guys finally got some time to work on my 65 c-10 lwb fleet this last couple of weeks between the rain & flooding around chicago/milwaukee area. she's up & running, got the three on the treeto the floor, got brakes, headlights (halogen hi only- probably dimmer switch), tail & stop (led) lights, but not turn signals yet- after market clamp on column switch isn't co-operating yet. the radio even works. driving it to currency exchange on way to work this morning. just got a free 86 donor for spindle to spindle swap for front disc. get them on in a couple of weeks when i get time again. feels good to have it on the road. hard to call her my black betty yet while she's still tan tho. looks like patch & paint time coming- black of coarse. pics coming this week. she may be for sale soon i have found a prostreet project in someones got all apart -given up on in a barn tho. jw

About those spindles
Glad to here your truck is on the road. My 65 still has a ways to go. I have a question for you. Do you know if the there's a difference in the ball joints and tie rod end between the drum set up and the discs? I have a set of spindles from a 72 or earlier gmc that are on there way to being on my 65. I've yet to get a definitive answer on what all needs to be changed though. Thanks, -Noah

ball joints
i beleive you have to use the 72 ball joints to match updated donor with brakes. i should be getting an 86 donor for mine rig this weekend & plan on buying new ball joints for the swap. 72 - 86 can all work on our trucks. none of the front end parts are that expensive at my local napa dealer. happy to help if i can Noah feel free to drop me a line. i am painter & harley bike wrench so if i don't know i can normally get the answer for you. jw

You're a Harley wrench? Me too...
So where do you work? I'm still in training I guess you could say. I'm at MMI in Phoenix with a few more classes to go. If you can look past the searing heat in this town, the school has really been great. I've learned quite a lot from that place and been pretty successful at it too so far. I'm looking forward to getting out of school and going to work though. Anyhow, thanks for the answers. I figured it would be best to replace the ball joints and tie rod ends anyhow. I just wanted to be sure I got the right parts. Thanks again, -Noah
