1966 steering column
I have a 66 column. I want to know if I can put a 67 steering shaft in my 66 column. So I can put a newer steering wheel on?

Re: 1966 steering column
What difference would a 67 shaft make to the steering wheel?
I once put a 68 or maybe 67 shaft in a 66 column, to make the 66 column have the right length and flange for a power steering box. This was a 4-speed column, no shifter. I used the 66 steering wheel. |

Re: 1966 steering column
Does Budnick make a steering wheel that doesn't use a 9 bolt adapter?

Re: 1966 steering column
Because Budnik said the wheel adapter will work on a 67 to 94

Re: 1966 steering column
I am not sure but if the shafts are the same diameter, it would be worth checking it out

Re: 1966 steering column
If there's some reason it wont go on there, it isn't the shaft. I did that shaft swap and put the 66 wheel back on. It fits and looks completely stock. It is just shorter on the steering box end.
Maybe it's the signal lights or the cancel mechanism or something like that? |

Re: 1966 steering column
I put a wheel from a 90 something in my 64. I didn’t need any adapters or anything. It was a direct bolt in. Why do you think you need a different shaft?

Re: 1966 steering column
the splines from 1960--72 are the same I used a smaller steering wheel from 1967 on my 1972 column and when I needed a steering wheel for my 1964 C60 bobtail I pulled a 1968 off and put it on no difference
