Leaf spring install

Assembling a 1963 GMC. Installing the rear end and noticed the rear leaf springs are not equal in measurements from the center pin to the shackle eye hole. My question is does the shorter side of the leaf spring go toward the front of the pick up ? And the longer side of the leaf spring to the back of the truck ?
