has anyone used one of these yet?
ive been looking at weld in fuel doors so i dont have to put more holes in the bed. Has anyone tried the Tanks Inc. Weld-In Fuel Door Assembly, in general or specifically part number FFD-A? just wondering on fit and if i should go with the curved panel or the straight panel.

My door and pocket along with the release lever and cable were cut from a foreign car in the pick a part yard. A lot less than what they want for the item you are asking about. Just an idea as to what can be done.

I used the hinge and latch from one of theirs that I picked up second hand. I made it into a sidemarker fill. It is ok, the hinge could be stouter. The truck is still in pieces, so no real world usage feedback.

Smitty, You did exactly what I am planning to do with a rear mounted gas tank. Did you make the fuel filler trim panel that is in the bed?

Re: has anyone used one of these yet?
Actually had someone do the body work. The cover is a modified cover from a Blazer of this era. It was widened a bit. Not sure how much. But using this panel helped it conform to the floor like from the factory. My brother had the idea. For both the filler packet/door and cover. He incorporated both into his truck about 15 yrs. ago. Actually I had been collecting parts for the last 20 yrs. The grill surround and egg crate as well as the bowtie and headlight trim pieces were acquired from the dealership years ago. The oak floor isn't perfect and was found in a junk yard about 20 yrs. ago as well. Started life in a long bed. Love to take it cruising because it always gets a lot of attention. Makes me feel better about all the money I've poured into it.

Routing the fuel fill to the tank around bed supports and spring shackles ( on leaf spring trucks ) most important. I used a door and fill tube out of a 1990 S10 ...2" fill goes with the 2" Boyd side fill tank. Inside 3/4" pvc glued together.
