Rear shock relocation question!
I just lowered my 1970 and I am wondering if I can re-use the upper shock mounts, punch the rivets out and mount them in a different location to give the rear shocks a more vertical position. Preferably leaving the lower mounts on the bottom of the control arm. Has anyone done this or is it easiest to just buy a relocation kit?

I did that very thing years ago. I moved the hole down one side and then trimmed the rest. Then bolted it back up.

I just so happen to be in the process of replacing the factory upper shock mounts. So I thought I would post one of the the mounts I made with the factory mount to show what is possible no matter which way you go.

For the best positioning, go with the ones that mount them at the rear of the trailing arm. 60-62 had that factory, and its the best mounting for shock angle and performance.

With seven inches of drop I think you have to go to the rear style mount like demain5 recommended.

Go to NOLIMIT.net and get their relocation kit.You wont be dissapointed. I did their panhard bar at the same time and It was day and night differance.Didnt drive like the same truck.Now to get started on their Wide Ride front and Fat Bar rear kit for daughters 70 swb. Good looking parts!Just bought the parts now have to get over mini strokes I didnt have planed.Build thread to follow.
