Anyone got a 55-57 bellhousing to fit in a 62 c10?
I've been trying to get my hands on a 60-62 v8 bellhousing, because I would like to keep the hydraulic clutch and would also like to not hack up the frame when upgrading to a SBC.
Of course, I have not had luck in finding one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg so I figured a 55-57 one would fit a sbc and would work with the novak hydraulic clutch kit. Someone put one for sale in my town for cheap so I picked it up. But now I am reading that a 55-57 will not fit a 60-66 without modifications and that I should have gotten a 63-72 bellhousing instead... Has anyone gotten a 55-57 bellhousing to fit in our trucks and what modifications did they end up doing? I wouldn't mind buying a better fitting bellhousing, but would rather get the 55-57 to work if I can. |

Just saw your post. Is your Bell a car or truck 55-57? If a car it won't work with the stock bell x-member, car bell mounts are different. If you use side eng mounts and a rear trans x-member(depends on trans of course) the car bell will work.

@61k10
Thanks, that was what I was afraid of. It's a 55-57 car one. It looked like it might fit, but I still haven't taken out my old bellhousing to see if it fits. |
