Flip kit
I have a 72 C10 with leaf springs …. Will a 73-87 flip kit work with my truck or do I need something else???

Re: Flip kit
You need something else. The 73-87 C10 uses a 2 1/2” wide leaf spring and your ‘72 is 2 1/4”.
DJM makes a flip kit for the 69-72 trucks and I got mine from Summit racing. It was hard to find on the website because of a poor description. You may want to use the phone.

Re: Flip kit
I also have the DJM flip kit on my 72 c10 — works great, I purchased mine from the DJM website also put on new leaf springs but removed the overload spring at the same time.

Re: Flip kit
I removed my overload as well, but only because it hit the CalTrac bars. Or they hit it.

Re: Flip kit
Can anyone comment on the DJM install ? Is removing bed advised ?

Re: Flip kit
I had mine off only because at the time I did a c- notch and a Boyd tank install—- It is absolutely doable with out the bed removed.

Re: Flip kit
I don’t think so. You can adjust them to vary when they start working. I was actually shocked at how much windup was in the leaf springs even with the 307 motor and 3.07 rear gear. “Throttle response” improved dramatically because now it moves forward when you push the gas rather than winding up the springs and then moving forward. All in anticipation of 427 power in the future...

Re: Flip kit
I did mine in the driveway, bed on. You will spend more time on your back, but wasn’t worth removing the bed IMO.

Re: Flip kit
Thanks guy’s, I have heavy duty rear spring option. Truck has Low mileage and seldom loaded so was planning on removing the extra spring/springs, will this along with the flip kit get rear end down any significant amount ?

Re: Flip kit
I had the same spring package on mine and did what you are describing.
I think that there was around a 7" drop. There will not be a lot of room between the axle and the frame. You will have to cut down the bump stop. Also, move the rear upper shock to the hole next to the existing mount. This will straighten the rear shock to a more vertical position, improving the shock performance. You will need to get an upper shock bolt for the hole.

My front is dropped 2 1/2" with spindles and 2" more with springs for a 4 1/2"-7" drop. I ran 4 front shocks all around.
