Soffseal Weatherstrip
I bought a soffseal door weather strip kit earlier this year and am now putting it to use.
I am kind of scratching my head about the window channel. I have one piece of channel 8’ long, and one “whisker” 8’ long besides the rubber for the doors, front and rear window. I assume the whisker piece with the chrome bead goes on the inside of the window garnish to ’sweep” the window as it goes up and down. The kit did not come with the rubber scraper that goes in the door which is a bit aggravating and seems when I called about what was what (no list or instructions) the gal that took my call was not really familiar with the kit or what the contents were. It did not come with windlace either which for a door seal kit seems a bit odd. My real question involves the length of the fuzzy channel. Is 8’ enough to do 2 doors? Seems a bit short to me. Also, why would I need 8’ of the whisker matieral if it only goes inside the garnish molding? Sorry to demonstrate my naïveté but my experience is with my 55 sedan so this is new to me |

Re: Soffseal Weatherstrip
It sounds like you got more of a "universal kit" than an actual kit for these trucks but I have never ordered from Soffseal before.
You should have all of the items in the photo below. The whisker pieces should be pre-cut and shaped to match the window trim they attach to. Also I don't think 8' of the fuzzy is long enough but that may depend if you have wing windows ( I don't).

Like you, I don’t think the glass run channel will be long enough, and the whisker material supplied is one piece, not pre-shaped and is enough for 4 doors it appears. Like you, I have no vent windows so I don’t think 8’ of glass run channel will be enough. Did not get belt line window rubber either I also need the material that goes between the glass and the glass frame but don’t see sources for that. Are people using something different than the stuff they put in initially? |

Re: Soffseal Weatherstrip
The other material for the windows is called glass setting tape. You can buy large rolls from Amazon. Here is a source for small rolls

Re: Soffseal Weatherstrip
Was in a rush so i used 3m weatherstrip adhesive. Won't ever fall out but might be a job to replace glass. But odds are it won't be me
