Soft shift detents
Hi I am new here, this is a great board and thanks to whoever is doing the work to keep it up and running.
My 67 with a 70 tilt wheel has very little or no detents or notches for the shifter gear locations. Has anyone seen this ?? It even droped out of park the other day!! |

Welcome to the best site on the Web!
Josh is the one that makes everything happen on this site and he does an extremely effective job. On your shift detent problem. Usually the shift lever wears where it engages the detent. Also, the spring that holds the lever into the detent can be broken. I would suggest pulling the lever and checking the contact area. If there is a notch at the end, then I would suggest replacing the lever as they are available from the vendors listed on the home page. If the spring is broken, then replace the spring. Jim |
