BP Automotive Harness
I am thinking about purchasing a LS harness from BP Automotive and would iike to mount the ECM under the seat. Can anyone that has used the BP harness tell me if their standard harnes is long enough to mount the ECM under the seat or do you need to have a custom one made that is longer? If you need a longer harness, how many feet did you have added to it?

Re: BP Automotive Harness
I've heard the BP is a little longer than the psi...the psi is not long enough to reach under the seat...but psi is supposed to be offering a DIY kit than you can make to a custom length..

Re: BP Automotive Harness
I just recently bought a BP “show stopper” harness and it has plenty of length to mount it under the seat. I was impressed with the quality and it showed up within a week. I haven't got it wired in yet but I don’t see any issue with it. I will try and get a length measurement for you tomorrow.

Re: BP Automotive Harness
BP is all I use, as C10resto said, it has a longer pigtail than most. You would have to enter the cab low on the tunnel. There is plenty of length on the throttle pigtail if using drive by wire. The only thing I would see as an issue would be the wiring pigtails for speedo, tach etc. They would have to be extended, but it could work, would just need careful planning.
You could always call Bill. He can do you a custom harness, it will just be longer lead time. He has built a couple of custom ones for me, just had to wait on them.... T, |

Re: BP Automotive Harness
FYI, the PSI is long enough to go under the seat. Mine fit just fine.
I know that 1971Stepside on the forums used a BP harness and has his ECM under the seat. You might PM him. |

Re: BP Automotive Harness
Thanks everybody for all the replies
beaterku, thanks for the pics. Where did you come thru the firewall with your harness? Did you have any problems with the wires going to the speedometer or tach like TomMLSX mentioned that they might need to be extended? |

As for the wires, I have a Dakota Digital cluster, so I used their BIM module to pull all of the data from the OBDII port. I also opted to put my TAC module under the seat as well. I did have to extend the harness from the pedal to the TAC about 20" to do this. There were a few wires that I did extend from the dash to the ECM, the brake signal, TCC ground, fan 1, fan 2, check engine and switched 12v. I made a small sub harness for all of these wires. My main reasoning was I wanted to keep under the dash as uncluttered as possible. The BP harness is going to have the same wires that interface with the truck. If you are using the ECM signals for speed and rpm, you will just extend those up to the dash as well. Hope this helps. I have a ton of pictures if you need help with anything. Just let me know! |

Re: BP Automotive Harness
I didn't think it was going to work until I stretched it out on the engine. Don't get me wrong, it is tight, but it works. I would have liked a little more length, but you've got to work with what you got.
