55.2-59 Anyone making a rear wiring harness?

Anyone make a rear back running and brake light wiring harness, my wires are all messed up and would like to be able to drive without having to worry about a cop pulling me over. I’m not a wire wizard otherwise I might try and patch the wires. Worst case I’ll have to patch the wires. I could find lots of wiring harness for the front and cab of the truck. The truck is a 59 GMC

For tail and brake lights all you need is 3 wires...1 for both tail lights ,and 1 for right brake light, and 1 for left brake light..you can buy 3 color trailer wiring at a parts store ..

Yep, a proper length roll of trailer light wire works great. some comes in 3 strands but most comes with four.

Most of it is color coded for the lights with the GM color coding but at least one brand has some not normal colors.

You will have to tie into it for the left tail light where the harness turns the corner to go to the right tail light. You split the wire for the left stop/turn back and then cut it to length to go to the left light. All the parts house should have it in the trailer stuff section and some will have it on a roll.

both tail lights are the small filament in the bulb, the wire comes off the headlight switch
l&r brake/turn lights come off the turn signal switch, 1 wire for each side

It probably wouldn't be needed on a pickup with a regular box on it but for my flatbed dualie I bought a box that mounts at the back of the frame that you run the wires from the front into and with wire ends put the individual wires on and then run the wires to the lights from there. I got that because I have clearance lights and a trailer hookup and in the past construction workers created a real basket of snakes back there.

its a great idea to install a sealed junction box at the rear and run a cable, like a sheathed cord that has multiple conductors, from front to rear. a lot of trailer supply places sell the electrical cord style with the correct colors inside to match automotive electrical coloring. this makes it easy to run, easy to clamp to the frame with frame clips and also works pretty well for standing up to mechanical damage. in the past I have also run multiple single conductor wires through Synflex tubing, like air brake tubing, and used compression fittings at junction boxes etc. this stands up to mechanical damage better, IE: 4x4 trucks or off road equipment. the Synflex is also available in different colors if you like to coordinate. most electrical supply places could help you out with some good quality multi conductor, flexible sheathed cord if you wanted to go with whatever color on the strands. check the ratings for what the cord is made to withstand, heat, cold, wet, dry etc.
here is an overkill example of a sealed junction box. they do make them smaller. note compression fittings on the cording. wouldn't that look purdy.

This is a great idea. Thank you. I've used sealed junction boxes in the past. They work well but sometimes do not have visual appeal.
