Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

I’ve searched the FAM and combed old related posts but cannot find any guidance on where the small bracket specific to the 71 manual throttle option bolts to. Any guidance and photos would be a big help. Thanks.

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

I will have to look, but if not mistaken, it bolts on throttle bracketand catches the cable as it moves to pedal extension. If I remember correctly it catches one of the three hole at top of main bracket

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

Thanks. The holes on the throttle bracket seem to small to accommodate the accompanying bolt but that arrangement seems sensible. Pics if possible please.

It bolts to the brake pedal assembly, forward bolt i think, or above it, someplace on it in that area.

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

Thanks Randy. I’m surprised there’s no previously posted detail pic of where the small bracket mounts let alone showing the routing between the ducts for 71 as the mount is shifted sideways much more than the 72 example.

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

There is a factory assembly manual type drawing out there of how it fits together, i cant find it now though.
I also looked at my pedal assembly and cant figure out how it mounts.
I bet classic bowties knows how it mounts and has pictures.

I bet you have to drill a hole like you have to drill a hole in the brake pedal for cruise control vacuum switch on the pedal.

Jim thanks. Almost. I’ve got same question as badpeanut but don’t see it was addressed on that thread (https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...3&postcount=61).

I figured that would be the case but was hoping you would spot the piece in the photo in post 59 even though I couldn't.

It's not the piece I marked below, is it?

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

It’s not. That part of the larger bracket. The smaller one I suspect is just outside the field of view but the picture does show the trajectory of the throttle cable as it “lands” on the pedal and gives a clue. It’s got to be on the brake pedal assembly as Randy mentioned but a photo clarifying orientation would be helpful.

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

The pictures in this link may provide a clue. They show that bracket attached to the cable. That bracket must attach to something above. Could be the brake pedal assembly as you suggest.

Info on cable routing. A bit "hazy" though.

I saw those, thanks. Definitely helpful. The cable routing shown in the second link is straightforward and makes sense for the 72 design. For 71, the cable I suspect courses left of the washer pump as it meets the pedal several inches to the left relative to that for 72. Still hoping someone with a 71 setup can post pics showing bracket and cable location.

Mels post is the one got educated me that a difference existed for 71 vs 72.

Just another example of routing with the little bracket on the 1971 setup.

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

That's it! The missing piece. Thank you sir. I bet the cable runs left of the wiper motor not right of the motor as for 72.

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

Finally a picture.
Just as i thought, requires drilling.
Now the question is, do both holes on the bracket get a bolt or just the one pictured.

Re: Where does this bracket attach? 71 manual throttle

The visible bolt is an existing one on the pedal bracket isn't it?

FWIW several I've seen offered for sale over the years have a bolt at each hole.

I peeked updash in my Blazer last night - may have mistook a bolt for the one here. Will look again.
