55.2-59 Roll Pan and rear crossmember sill

I just bought a roll pan to install and when I mock it up , my rear sill just looks horrible and I know things can get out of hand with remodels but I do need now to replace the sill to have it look decent

Is the rear sill only held on my the bolts on the rear tailgate risers , taillights and the two bolts in the bed?

I just started unbolting everything then I said Id stop till i buy the sill today , that will give me a good idea of what I need to do.

Looks like someone bugger welded it in one picture , have you done that

roll pan seem like I may need to trim side flaps

Lastly is your roll pan supposed to be flush with the sill, any pictures will help

Im going to drill and bolt roll pan , so Im assuming doing everything first then bolting sill up , is that the way to go

The rear cross piece was Factory welded in place like what you have pictured.

Someone may have rewelded that at one time but the welds weren't too fancy when they were new.

Maybe when the TF folks check in they will post some photos and more info.

I dont know what roll pan you have but mine mostly covers the cross sill. Yes the sill should be welded ounc you have the sides square and straight and the tail gate fits even on both sides. The bolt holes have a bit of slop a the sides will move some just by somebody leaning on them. Will try a couple pic of mine, one is when i had the box upside down. Well i guess not on the upside down one its on my phone but wont post

does the roll pan bolt to the face of the rear sill or does it bolt to the bottom of the rear sill. Im glad i didn't drill anything yet cause it looks like the pan you have bolted tot eh face of the sill

found this thread Im assuming I need to cut the notch out of rear license plate for 55 or does that not apply on our truck .

It bolts to the face of the rear sill, bolts are nearly up to the bottom of the tail gate. I don't remember if mine would have fit without cutting the cross sill, but for some reason i modified my license plate mount by moving it back, if i remember it was so i could access the hold down bolts for the wood.

Interesting I was gonna weld or mount to the bottom on sill plate so that I get more coverage to hide the tank between my frame rail and well I just didn't know where or how to mount it.
I understand now and if I go that rout I will have to cut out the rear sill to accommodate the set back license plate.

I made mine and bolted it to rear sill. You can see bolts just under tailgate and I bolted to each rear fender.
