New poster with my 454 BB 65 K10 stepside
Hey y'all. Been reading these forums for a while trying to learn about what I want to do with my truck. I've got a 65 K10 stepside with the spare tire in the driver fender. One of the previous owners swapped in a 454 BB and lifted it. I know the very first thing I want to do is upgrade the manual brakes. For now I just want to add the booster and new master cylinder and rebuild the drums. Eventually I want to swap them to both front and rear disk brakes but from what I've read it will be difficult because I have closed knuckle Dana 44's.
Anyways, here are some pictures of my starting point. This is my first time doing this big of a project so any advice is welcome. |

Re: New poster with my 454 BB 65 K10 stepside
Very nice!!!
You plan to leave it lifted??? My 4WD knowledgse is zero, BUT have helped convert these oldies to disc brakes. If you have no experience, the front disc brakes improve stopping by leaps and bounds. adding rear disc doesn't do all that much more. THe rear disc is nice concerning servicing rear brakes vs. having to replace shoes. Carry on!!! |

Cool rig looks solid, maybe upgrade front axle to mid 80's..... swap out the plastic fuel filter if possible.
