BF Goodrich Radial TA 275 60 R15
After much thought and input from this board I purchased and installed my new BF goodrich radial TA tires in 275 60 R15 this week.
I really struggled with this decision and this size works great on a stock stance truck. The only thing i changed was installing 1 3/8" leveling blocks to the back to level the stance and eliminate the rake look. These suckers are wide and fit the opening perfect. I considered a P255 but that would have been smaller in diameter. the 275 is a nice fit and fills the space. I hope this post will help a member in the future to decide on their tire size so I added plenty of pics. FYI.. the tire overall size is 27" diameter and installed on 15 x 8 rims. thanks again for the help. RRM.

Oh yes... Those are perfect. I like the white lettering out like that. I ran those back in the day, same size too on my Manual steering 68! -klb

Re: BF Goodrich Radial TA 275 60 R15
Yes. it’s stock stance other than lowering blocks to get the rear same
Height at front. FYI. For this truck 1 3/8” lowering block did the trick. I bought 1 3/4” aluminum lowering blocks and cut them down to 1 3/8” Table saw with triple chip carbide blade. Lower blade down to 1/8” and set fence to 1 3/8 Take a cut and flip and cut again. Bump blade up another 1/8” and repeat until through. Take a few passes but perfect cut when done.

Looks great!
Although I am biased. I'm running the tires as well.

Re: BF Goodrich Radial TA 275 60 R15
rockyrivermark, Nice wheel/tire combination on a VERY pretty truck... I've liked the truck rally wheels since they came out in '73 or so. I liked & still like the car rally wheels introduced in '67. I do realize not everybody feels the same way. A couple of friends of mine keep telling me I should get rid of those "stock rims" ... nah, I think they look good on yours and mine too.

Re: BF Goodrich Radial TA 275 60 R15
I put them on mine last year same size on the old cragars white letters in.
If Michelin made the LTX in that size I would have put them on. I put the LTX on my 92 Roadmaster wagon and those with cargo coils in the rear and just average Munro sensitracs, the difference was dramatic. I think the michelins have an extra side wall. The tires are firmer and not harsh at all. You will feel them get harder with just tiny pressure changes. The michelins can run from 35 - 50 PSI and their load rating is way higher, like 500 lbs a tire I think though cant trust my memory on that. I worried they might be noisey but they are not at all. So far they have been great on the wally and its not a sofa anymore. Twice ive had old school tire guys come up and check the size on the truck rear and smile. The guy that told me the size originally towards 20 years ago is a high end porsche mechanic with lots more in his background. I read it here before i decided on a size and had also found my notes from the mechanic. Nice tire place in a small town close by old school service and good prices. Father gave it to a son then that father now has given it to his son but he still works or really just comes in to talk to people. When I have time again I have to approach new leaf springs and will post to ask about stock height with those same tires since so many have them. Last edited by Warren; 04-26-2020 at 01:45 AM. |
