Re: Anyone used a CD009 instead of a T56?

I went with .62... scoti is right about the rpm......its right around 2100rpm's.... its been a while since I did all the calculations . If you can swing the t56 , I believe you will be more happy with it.....especially anything with decent amount of torque. heres a tremec calculator website . you can play with it (its dummy proof) and see what gear and tire size to get you where you want to be. https://www.tremec.com/calculadora.php

The cool thing is w/the right gearing & tire combo you can get a consistent rpm for the entire rpm range. 2k rpm under 50mph in 1st thru 4th; about the same entering the highway & local in town highway traffic, & then 6th for once you're out of the local area & on open interstate roadways.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: Anyone used a CD009 instead of a T56?

Wow - I have really gone down the rabbit hole with this....

CD009 - It would appear that the most comprehensive 'kit' available to mate the trans to an LS is from LOJ - problem is that it starts at around $1400 + the cost of the trans, say another $1000 and you are now well into T56 territory.

AR5 - With the FabBot adapter this is a relatively cheap 5 speed to LS, problem is that AR5's are not exactly plentiful in the UK plus the gearshift is not the best and 3rd gear seems a bit iffy.

BMW 6 speed - Using the Getrag 6 speed from a 3 or 5 series diesel is a really cheap way to get into a six speed LS but... the PMC adapter seems to be about the same price as that for the CD009 plus gearbox are around £3-400 here in the UK - Problem is that the ratios seem a bit off for the LS with first being very short. A possible however.

T56 - The obvious choice really well apart from the 450hp/lbft rating which, means I would have to change it when turbo's come into the picture. Also they are all getting a bit old now plus still seem to be holding their value. Most seem to still be around the $2-2500 dollar mark plus what ever maintenance/remedial work will need to be done.

TR6060 - Basically the manufacturers T56 magnum. Will hold around 700hp, better shifting, newer plus remove the gearshift adapter and the forward mount will work perfectly with a bench seat. Down side is that to convert the driveshaft flange to a slip joint is $400+ or the expense of using a drive shaft with a slip joint in it means, potentially you are at the same price as a brand new Magnum T56.

So, as the roundabout that is my life goes full circle, we come back to the lets just get it on the road option. Which is a T56.

Phew. So if anybody has a T56 or a tr6060 for sale hit me up!

Thanks for all the replies gentlemen - hopefully somebody else will learn from your input.

P.
