TH350 Bushings Questions
So I have a TH350 that I'm rebuilding. 1970 C20.
Learning as I go and doing okay so far. I see wear on my Thrust Washers as they are steel and copper. (or bronze?) Ordered a new set of Thrust Washers and expect them to be Delrin/plastic. Ordered new Torrington Bearings that I may or may not need. (old ones look good) Also, Forward Sprag was toasted! Rear one looks great. So ordered one Sprag. Bushings? I know nothing of the bushings? Pulling them out. Pressing them in. Something I've never done. If my Thrust Washers are worn, should I expect the bushings need replaced? I know that's two different forces, rotational and load? Is there a way to measure the bushings? Diameter compared to shaft? If so, how much +/- for fluid? Can you point me to a thread that already covered this? I've been reading more than writhing here for a couple weeks and learning a LOT! Any tips, thoughts, info on bushings will be much appreciated! Cheers! Btw...3 weeks ago I couldn't find good swap rebuild. Now that I'm this deep, a guy shows up on Craigslist that I WISH i'da met 3 weeks ago?!? |

Re: TH350 Bushings Questions
Find a mandrel and remove old bushings with a lit tap then using old bushing tap the new ones in if you do not have a seal driver
Last time i did mine i had to buff out inner diameter of the bushings they were a little snug for the yoke abd converter snout

Re: TH350 Bushings Questions
Take the parts that need new bushing pressed in to a transmission shop. They will have the correct drivers to install them the right way. Also check your drive shaft yoke it maybe worn a little.
