I have a LS7 cam swapped into my 5.3 engine in a dd.
it kills the low end noticable amount, but gains a lot of RPM potential and HP up top. All in what you want I guess...
reading those articles about the swap, they focus on the peak HP gains and don't really tell how loosing 70lb-ft down low at 2500rpm feels seat of the pants. It doesn't bother me enough to re-swap the cam LOL

my summary is the engine will feel noticeable softer in the rpm range most driving takes place, but above 4k feels noticably stronger and will pull to nearly 6500 cleanly before falling off.
the OEM 5.3 cam was done and nosed over at 5400-5500
