L94 going in my 68, Do I have to change the oil pan?

I知 trying to figure out everything i need for the swap. Do I need to order a different oil pan or can I use the pan that痴 on the motor?

Usually yes...especially if you intend to lower the truck

Do you intend to install the L94 in its factory configuration including the VVT, Active Fuel Management and E 85 flex fuel capability?

I知 planning on leaving it stock, no cam change or anything like that. Do I need to delete the vvt or the other stuff you mentioned?

Your choice its your ride, but IMHO, drop the VVT and Active Fuel Management, drop the downstream O2 sensor feeds and adjust the fuel / timing map.

Your choice on the E 85 but if you keep it, you must use hoses to suit the E 85...

I知 not familiar enough with those items to know what they are or how they affect things. Is deleting them something simple to do that my harness builder would do? Would you advise I delete them? What benefits are there to deleting them?

In the interests of getting the truck built, why dont you leave it all functional and drive it for a year or two....then as time and dollars permit, look at other options.

Removing VVT requires new cam and gear and also removing the VVT map from the ECM....
Active Fuel Management delete needs a remap of the ECM...

Dropping the downstream O2 sensors again needs an ECM remap....

Your harnes builder should be able to point you in right direction...

When I go LS, I try and stay away from VVT and AFM as much as possible....

That痴 kinda what I知 thinking. I知 not looking for crazy power, I just want the truck to run really nice and dependable and enjoy driving it. As long as the VVT or AFM doesn稚 greatly negatively affect that, I知 not too worried about it.

Some keep the VVT and some don't. If you plan adding a cam the cam companies supply a "limiter" to prevent too much advance. If you delete the VVT you will need a new timing cover, valley cover and wiring pig tail to the cam sensor. Texas Speed makes a nice kit for this. Everyone deletes the AFM both thru the ecm and new lifters. It requires removing the heads but on an engine stand its not the big of a deal. The AFM lifters have had some problems.
I'm kind of a do it right the first time guy and if you plan any mods to the engine like a cam do it now when the engine is out of the truck. A small cam will require new valve springs and push rods. The LS engines are one of the easiest engines to work on in my opinion.
