1953 chevy truck
In the works of buying a 1953 project truck from a friend.
He is partly thru the LS install. Are there any pictures of the under the dash A/C hook ups/systems for this model? Ideas? Experiences? Thanks. Scott |

Re: 1953 chevy truck
I have the Hurricane unit from Old Air Products in my 49. Fits nice at the bottom of the dash.

Re: 1953 chevy truck
It all depends on how much of the ac unit you want to be visible. Some guys are happy with the unit being exposed like that and some like to hide them as much as possible an then there are those of us who are somewhere in between the two. Hopefully the folks will show several examples and tell why they like that style.

Re: 1953 chevy truck
On a unit like this everything is under the dash with the two hoses coming thru the firewall.
The firewall has been cut out and replaced as a solid piece. My buddy was not going back with A/C. I think I might want it. Scott |

Since your firewall is smooth if you go with a Vintage air set up (that's what I have used in the past) you can mount the unit higher up inside your dash as to not see as much sticking out. That's how I have mounted the one in my 53 Suburban. I then will fab a lower dash panel to house the ducts and controls and further hid the unit. Make sense? Marc

Makes sense.
We are close on a deal. I will try to get some pics posted if I can get it done. Just sort of getting the ducks in a row. Scott |

Re: 1953 chevy truck
There are some nifty bulkhead fittings for the heat and AC lines that can be mounted down somewhat out of the way that might help keep things clean.
