Sectioned crossmember 73-87

It’s been a good few years since been on here but project is getting started again. There was a man selling already fabricated custom sectioned crossmembers and other c10 specific bagged parts. I believe somewhere east coast. Anyone remember who that was?

Don't know who sold sectioned/pancaked x-members on the East coast.
Turner Enterprises used to sell them out West years & years ago (like 20yrs).

I know where there's one sectioned 1.5" in DFW area.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

It might have been mid west area. He also sold no pump steer tie rod ends and custom adjuster sleeves. Bagged long bed truck with Steelies and a latter rack in the back.

How much you think for the one in DFW area?

Yep. That's a 10hr job for a cleanly modded x-member that's ready for install.

They are not that hard. Anyweld shop can do the work for you if you need. All you have to do is take them the instructions.

There may even be a forum member around your area that does them.

They are pretty involved, but not that hard.

8-10hrs of work depending on how thorough the builder is w/the job.

When I reached out to Turner Ent. back around 2000, his price was $350 plus the cost of freight. Given what the mod can help with, I had an idea & tried doing one on my own. I bought a welder & plasma cutter. It took some time & I learned some things. I subsequently did more of them w/the goal to do enough to pay for the welding machine. I accomplished that goal.

I used to keep one of each done (63-72; 73-87) but they took-up too much space.

Exactly it is not hard. Any competent weld shop. Any competent shop can do the work. It just takes time to make it look factory.

Scoti yours looked better than mine that's for sure. I loath grinding so I just try to make the welds look nice and the new owner can do what they want. If you have a plasma and aren't cleaning it up after I can see it done in 5-6 hours.

I use the plasma only in certain areas. Straight cuts w/the angle grinder make the job much easier aligning things (for me anyway). The last 3 I've done, I didn't even use the plasma.

Also.... I clean up front & back for the ones going under my sheet metal. The one in that pic got just the front cleaned-up. The back just got a dusting from a flap wheel & then Scotch Brite wheel. I leave it up to the buyer to finish out the area that can't be seen.
