Brake Pedal Stop
Does anyone know the thickness of the rubber spacer at the plate that the brake pedal touches. Mine is long gone and I have a feeling the brake pedal is adjusted to low. There is abut 2 inches from the plate to the brake pedal arm. Does anyone make these? Oh if it makes a difference Auto trans and power drum brakes.

Just google them. The pedal doesn't rest on them though it's just for the release action to hit when you let off the pedal not for it to rest on.

Mine appears to be 5/16 inch. My pedal does rest on it. I thought that was what it was for but I could be wrong.

I read it in a post awhile back about not resting on them. But none of my shop manuals state this at all. I have been looking and can't find the thread about it so take it for what it's worth. None of the manuals I have even address it at all.

There's a return spring on it the brake lever arm, right above the stop light switch. The lever should rest on the rubber bumper. Tdangle, maybe your stop light switch is adjusted too far down? If the pedal is that far away from the stop, the clevis rod is going to need to be adjusted. If it won't reach after the adjustment, you must have the wrong rod. Something is fishy, because if I pushed my brake pedal that far, the brakes would be locked up.

Per the manual adjustment, if you do it as stated I doubt very seriously that the brake pedal is going to rest against the bumper. When your foot comes off the brake pedal are clutch the spring's job is to pull it back to the resting place and this is what the bumper is for so it doesn't slam into the metal bracket. it's not for the pedal to rest on it.
