diesel power options?

A friend of mine wants more power from his 6.2L diesel in his '85 K/10. It has a lot of torque already and he has dual glasspack exhaust. He is saving for a turbo but until what can he do to get some more ponies?

First open up the exhaust. The glasspacks are restricting the flow. Go to a high flow muffler like flowmaster. Also use a larger exhaust like a 2 1/2 or 3". With exhaust restricted you'll get more torque, but since diesels have such high compression, you need a larger exhaust. You could also turn up the injector pump, if it has a mechanical pump. These mods are cheap. You could go to larger injectors and possibly some head work for more hp. but these mods would be more money. The money would be better spent on a turbo, like you mentioned.
