Tailgate Trunnion

Been thinking about doing this for a while so I found some material and pulled the trigger. I will add a flange head bolt with washer and nut to secure the nylon to the original bracket. Just couldn't stand the thought of fresh paint and eventually metal on metal.

Good idea, dumb idea???
Anyone else done this?

I have been looking at some Delrin rod for that same idea, yours look great. Turned on a lathe? What O.D. on the nylon? All I have is a drill press so a bit of a challenge if the O.D. is way off.

I guess its not an original idea? Could be the same seller (I don't remember). The bolt is longer/flush on the ones I got. Similar/same pricing.

I got these off of craigslist.

Here’s the Craigslist ad. He sells them for most years.

It was turned on a lathe. Rough sketch but you get the idea.

I got these off of craigslist.

Picked up a set of these as well. Ordered direct from his website. Will see how they work next week.
