1965 Protecto-Plate Booklet-Value ?

Recently acquired this for a 1965 Chevrolet pick up. Don't see them very often and have never seen one for the 1965 year. Curious, I Googled it and found that 1965 was the very first offering for the metal warranty plate known as the "Protecto-plate" It shows vehicle was delivered Nov. 17, 1964 to Pierson Chevrolet In Dewey county, Taloga, Oklahoma. Rather unique piece being the first year that they were used. Some staining on the cover, pen marks on the back show W/S was cracked July 25th but no year ('65 maybe) Warranty shows a short length 24 month/24,000 mile warranty. Two Delco battery warranty certificates intact.

Anyone have a WIW idea for a rather rare piece?

That's a tough one because they are VIN specific.

Understand about being VIN # specific but they d0 make a nice glove box addition and add that little something for the dash at a local car/truck show. This being a first year available item and it was delivered in Nov. 64 think it would be rather hard to come by.

Your right there. If they had one for 64 I'd probably buy it too.
eBay has one for $50 and one $49 plus shipping.

Thanks for that info. Never thought to look for such on eBay.

Don't bother looking at current auctions, that only shows what people would like to sell for. Scroll down, left side, choose SOLD items. That gets you real pricing on things that have actually moved.

Re: 1965 Protecto-Plate Booklet-Value ?

My eBay shows "completed" items to show what sold.

Yes, but Completed Items shows all auctions that have ended, sold and unsold. Sold Items shows only items that have actually sold.

Re: 1965 Protecto-Plate Booklet-Value ?

Its worth alot to the person that has that specific VIN truck. To anybody else not so much. I have a few passenger car ones from the 60's laying around here. If you can get $15 or $20 for it I'd grab it.

Re: 1965 Protecto-Plate Booklet-Value ?

Being it is an example from the first year GM used the metal Protect-O-Plate card and is a early delivery date of a '65 truck delivered in '64 I listed it at $30 shipped. Think that is fair for such an early example and it would be hard to find whether it is the correct VIN number or not. Still a nice piece to display on the dash. Thanks for all the thoughts and input.
