I have been super busy at work but I have some updates on the Jimmy. I got the chassis rolling and decided it was time to swap the body. We put the Jimmy on the lift and took a few more pics of the 4x4 set up. A short time later we had lift off.

We had to put the body on and roll it outside to see what she looks like. She looks pretty good but not low enough for me. I picked up some drop shackles for the rear and cut the moog 6454 front springs 1.5 coils.

I picked up a Tejas SteelWorks transmission crossmember at C10's in the Park last year. I plan on going with a 3 inch x-pipe so I want the pipes to be tucked in the frame. I picked up a 2wd 700r4 and sent it off to get rebuilt.

I decided to go with the 87 fi tank setup. I plan on going with a ls engine later so I want the fuel system to be ready. I picked up the specta gm15c fuel tank. It's a 25 gallon fi tank. The fuel pump hanger is the spectra fg12k with the metric fittings. The straps are the spectra st12. I went with the Carter 74000 fuel pump for a tbi motor. I plan on regulating the pump down to use with my Holley carb. The Earls fittings allow me to convert the metric threads on the hanger to AN 6 lines.

The 700r4 transmission has been rebuilt and I went with a corvette stall converter. Time to work on the motor and get it ready to put in the chassis. I want to do something different with the small block so I picked out some Cerakote to update the engine parts.

What's the plans on the engine? By update, do you mean some dressing up with paint?

I had a good running 350 out of an 84 swb that i decided to use for my Jimmy. I stripped all the old factory parts and plan on adding a few aftermarket parts to make it look better. The motor looks like it was rebuilt at one point and look pretty clean on the inside. We cleaned the outside of the motor and sprayed it with VHT sp405 Black Pearl engine paint.

I decided to use the Cerakote burnt bronze and graphite black to coat my parts. I added black into the burnt broze to make a darker bronze color. I didnt want to go too dark like the midnight bronze sample on the right. The graphite black looks great on the valve covers but I think the dark bronze letters will set it off. I taped off the letters and sprayed them. too.

I picked up a serpentine setup off a 1992 Camaro. I decided to coat all the parts so I took it completely apart. I had the pulleys powder coated semi gloss black. I picked up a new power steering pump for a 1991 suburban while it was apart.

Nice work so far. One of these days I need to get over to your shop and check out your projects. I've been off FB for awhile so I have missed any updates...

No question you are doing a first rate job and will end up with a great truck when you are done.

Only thing I see that might give you grief is the pipe you welded between the frame rails up front.

Had a customer whose truck had a similar brace welded on to it.

The ends of the frame flex more than people realize.
When welded rigid any road flex from the right rail gets transmitted directly to the drivers side rail.

Being where the steering box is mounted this little bit of flexing at highway speed after hitting a bump had enough effect that it was hard to keep the truck in its own lane.
Bolting in a brace all will work fine but when welded there is no place for anything to give and the pipe will twist itself into a torsion bar over time.

When I torched the one off his truck it sounded like a gun going off, the pipe on the end I cut first sprung almost 2 inches.
