How to Remove Lock Handle from Hatch?

Ok guys...WTH????

I have taken apart everything I can find to get the handle removed from the rear hatch.

I provided a picture hoping somebody can tell me what the heck I'm missing!

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Pat

Re: How to Remove Lock Handle from Hatch?

The handle shaft rusts to the center mechanism - you’ll need penetrating oil and some carefully applied heat possiblY to get it loose.

It's not easy but unwind the spring before you apply heat. Also clean the end of the shaft off so if you get it moving it will go easier.

Re: How to Remove Lock Handle from Hatch?

Sawzall works unless you want to preserve the OEM handle, which can be re-chromed.

Yea, I busted mine on take out. And of course I wanted to stay with an original. So I paid the "big bucks" for an original, as compared to the cost of the garage door replacement. Glad I did too!
