Supporting Suburban body
It’s time to reconnect the frame and body of the Suburban. The body is now on an rotisserie. The plan is to leave the back half of the Suburban on the rotisserie and support the front using the cab roof support at the doors. I was thinking of making two supporting towers of concrete blocks or 6X6 on either side by the front door openings. Heavy duty screw type (old house jacks) jack stands on top. Then a 2X12 laid flat across the cab under the top of the door opening.
Not sure my description makes sense. I can draw something up to make it more clear. Any thoughts or ideas? Paul

That sounds stouter than a brick Schmidt house!
Seriously, Your work and planning, like many others on this site, is second to none. I have no doubt this is any less!

My question really is if supporting the front of the body by the roof is a good idea. Paul

Re: Supporting Suburban body
I have seen them picked up this way before. I would be a little concerned if the 2x12 was turned that way without a little extra support though to keep it from bowing

Re: Supporting Suburban body
I used an engine hoist connected to the front lower eye location and a pipe through the rear marker lights to put mine back on the frame. Ill look for a pic.
