3/4 ton front springs
So, I've asked this on a couple FB groups as well but I'm looking to get new spring packs made for my '56 3600 Napco. The GM Data book/info packet shows 3/4 tons (3600) got front spring packs with 6 leaves- the master parts catalog also confirms this. My truck has 8 leaves- no idea if when it was converted to a Napco heavier springs were installed. They look factory and have the double wrap at the rear pivot and the spring clips in the factory locations. It did have a heavy snow plow on it prior to me buying it. 8 leaf spring packs, according to the parts catalog and data book, were for Forward Control chassis and 4000 and heavier trucks. Does anyone have a 3/4 ton pickup with 8 leaf front spring packs?
My rear packs have 9 leaves and match what the book says- besides the lift block added for the Napco conversion.

Re: 3/4 ton front springs
Are you on this forum https://napco4x4.org/forum/ I'd think that someone there could tell you right off the bat if the 8 leaf springs were part of the conversion.
Looking on the GM Heritage 56 Chevy pfd It does show that your 3600 left the factory as a two wheel drive with 6 leaf springs. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf On this page Seth Doulton says that part of the package was springs. https://offroadaction.ca/2009/08/17/...vrolet-trucks/

Re: 3/4 ton front springs
Yes, I'm on that Napco page and the Napco FB group as well. My Napco parts and service manuals make no mention of front springs and they were not included in the parts diagrams.
I have referenced the GM Heritage site- I have a hard copy book of that information. 1957 was the first year Napco packages were factory installed and the RPO is referenced in the 1957 data packet on the heritage site. All 1956 Chevy's left as 2WD's (GMC's began factory install sometime in 1956). However, anyone could order the Napco kit and upfit their own 2WD or swap the kit from their older truck into a newer 2WD. I'm not really asking if the springs were part of the conversion kit- theres no information in my Napco material that shows they were. I'm only trying to find out if there are other 3/4 ton's 2 or 4WD with 8 leaf front spring packs. I don't mind having 8 leaf packs made to replace what I have unless the truck is not going to sit level and should have had 6 leaf packs instead.

Re: 3/4 ton front springs
unless your gonna haul heavy trailers and plow snow with it, why not buy lighter springs that will give a better ride?
my 3800 had a rough ride, would have loved to smooth it out

Re: 3/4 ton front springs
Ideally this one won't be anything but a show truck, I don't plan on working it when I'm done. With 4.56 gears and a 235, manual drum brakes all around and manual steering it won't be breaking any speed records either. I'm just trying to figure out if any others had 8 leaf springs in the front. Mine look just like factory spring packs, so that is what I'm trying to determine right now.
