Elect short update

I am still trying to figure out my short thats draining my battery.

I put a test light between the neg cable and the neg batt terminal, it lit up, but then goes out fast.

I did notice this was clicking when I re-attach the negative cable to the battery.

What is this ???

That's the horn relay. Find out why your horn is not working right and it will probably fix your battery drain.

My thought would be if in doubt, throw it out and get a new one....

I dont have the horns wired up,
the positive wire ends are tapped off,
would that make it click or is it just no good ?

Does it just pull straight out ?

It's probably not the relay itself. More than likely it's in the column. You probably have something around the horn button area making contact all the time. This is why you have the clicking from the relay.

Update: It's not a horn relay, I went and got a new one, did even look the same.

So I called GM had them look up the number ( 14014527 ) on the relay, it came back to a 1980 chevy truck dual tank switch solenoid relay. So I yanked it since I dont have dual tanks anymore.

I also figured out the test light was coming on for a second then going off- because of my radio memory was still hooked up.

Now I am gonna take the battery in to have it tested, I don't think I ever had a short, may just be a bad battery, we will see after I get back from the parts store.......

Ok the verdict is in... Battery is good.

So I will have to wait and see if
the tank relay was the problem
and see if my battery drains again.
