Edelbrock Factory Settings?
Sometimes when ya want something done right - you gotta do it yourself, right?
Took the 64 in to a "SBC Pro" to set the timing and adjust the carb to ideal settings. Well - let's just say Dude might want to consider a new line of work...so I'm going to start from scratch and give it another shot. I can't seem to find any info on the Google machine about how an Edelbrock Performance 1404 comes set "out of the box." I know the fast idle screw sits between the notches, and my Air/Fuel mixtures should be set at around 1 1/4 out-turns as a base - but here's my question: What is the ideal base setting for the TOP IDLE screw? In other words, if Idle screw is cranked all the way down - how many counterclockwise turns are needed to get it close to the factory settings? Hoping if I can get these base settings right, the final fine tuning should be downhill from there. Thanks in advance for any advice, Fellas!

Re: Edelbrock Factory Settings?
I just cranked it all the way out - 6 full turns and set it back to 3 turns from the base. Thanks - but nothing to see here! All good.

Re: Edelbrock Factory Settings?
There is no default factory setting. They need to be adjusted to match what they are mounted to. Now you can get the thing out in left field for sure but some practice and seeing what happens when you make adjustments will serve you well.

Call Edelbrock Tech line, insist to talk to Smitty. He’s the king of carburetors.
