1962 gmc
Picked this one up today. The grill and front bumper came with it too.
Pretty darn good shape. No rust that I can find. The drip rail is perfect, as are the cab corners, rockers and floor boards. The rear is a 14 bolt corporate, while the front is a Dana 44 with disc brakes. Both 8 lug. It has a V8 in it, as well as an auto transmission. Old school white spoke wheels. Frame looks impeccable as well as the fire wall and engine compartment. It does need a bed (longbed), as I think they had a flatbed on it before. It's been sitting awhile so I want to see if I can get it running before I place it up for sale. Pat |

Here's a few more. The truck definitely appears to be extremely clean.

Re: 1962 gmc
You are correct, it didn't have a typical stepside or fleetside bed because there isn't any bed mounting stands. That's where I am with my 66. It had a utility box. You'll want to get stands off a 60-62. I need 63-66. .
. Your truck looks really nice. Are you going to put a fleetside or stepside on it? That orange should be pretty easy to match.

Re: 1962 gmc
I might not be seeing a good angle but that looks longer than a longbed. Probably a 1 ton? 9 foot bed?

Not sure on the rear, but the front has been swapped with disc brakes. It also has a '65 327 motor in it, and an automatic transmission. I found where they welded a plate over where the stick-shift used to be. Steering column has been replaced with a tilt wheel and a key in the steering column. Unfortunately, it's no good as I busted it so I could turn it (no key). I would really like the original column and steering wheel anyway. Pat |

It sure looks like the rear axle could have easily had dually's on the rear. The Serial Tag states its a K1502 which indicates a 127" wheelbase. Now I'm going to have to measure it. I think a flat-bed would be perfect for this truck. Pat Went out and measured it, and it is a 127" wheelbase. Last edited by Ptjsk; 12-20-2020 at 12:37 AM. |

Re: 1962 gmc
The tank has definitely been relocated. Factory would have had a tank in the cab

Re: 1962 gmc
Did a 62 4x4 have an x-frame or a ladder frame?

Re: 1962 gmc
If you zoom in on the first picture, you can seen the 60-62 style front frame horns. I think I saw some info on the board that said the 4x4 frames were ladder type, but I don't remember exactly where I saw it

Re: 1962 gmc
I imagine an X would get in the way of the transfer case.

Re: 1962 gmc
Good looking truck.
As far as I know, all 60-66 4x4s had ladder frames. Looks like the old Rockwell t-case has been swapped out as well.
