What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
I am adding a tilt column from a mid 70’s motorhome to my 65 c10. I need the shifter linkage from column to trans, and want to know what my best option is. Hoping to avoid after market stuff.

Re: What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
I would start w/a 69-72 as my source.

Re: What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
I was wondering if that era of truck linkage would work. I’m sure it’s been done before but couldn’t find anything in a search.

Mine is highly modded so I have no need for factory original stuff but I'll base my search using the 67-72 as my criteria.

Re: What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
I made my own with 3/8" rod and two spherical rod ends. At least you know it will fit.

I used a Lokar set-up on my dually for header clearance & after getting it thought.... "I could of sourced this stuff for a lot less vs. the price for a 'kit' ".

Re: What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
Certainly cheaper to source your own parts to make a Lokar style linkage, but with Covid running rampant it's pretty nice to get it delivered with a quick call to Summit.

Re: What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
I bought a Lokar knock off kit off eBay - the rod from the steering column to the trans shift lever wasn't long enough so I bought a length of all-thread rod to make it work. I still didn't like seeing the all-thread rod so I grabbed a piece of stainless tubing from my work and slid it over the all-thread.
I still wasn't happy so I stole some ideas from other board members and added a suspended gas pedal from a 72 C-10 and grafted on a brake pedal from a 73 C-10. Now I'm happy - for now anyway. |

Re: What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
So what is the measurement of the rod that is needed?

Re: What shifter linkage with auto tilt column
Master Chief,
I'm in Phoenix and won't be back to Commiefornia to measure the rod on my truck for a couple more weeks yet. |
