Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
Can anyone tell me where to get the bushings for a 1965 Chevy Truck windshield wiper arm linkage assembly ? They where missing when obtained so do not even have a old one for measurments. The linkage assembly is in excellent condition except missing the bushings. Does anyone know the measurments/size of these bushings ? If we had measurments we could make something. Have seen a number of people selling reproduction set ups with bushings (some of the reproductions I am told have 'over size' bushings) but no one sells just the bushings (prices are $99.95 to $179.99 for complete linkages).

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
I would be interested in a set of bushings as well. Anyone have a lead?

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
Reviving this thread which I found while searching the forum.
I'm searching for a solution for this same issue (worn out bushings / sloppy linkage), and since the original post was several years ago, I'm wondering if someone has solved the problem. If not, I'll take apart my linkage and start measuring so I can search for individual bushings. I'm assuming that the bushings would be a couple dollars vs close to $100 for a new linkage assembly. |

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
The end pivots for the wipers appear to be ball and socket. On my truck, these have very little end play, so I think that these can just be cleaned and lubricated.
The two center pivot points incorporate flanged bronze bushings, and are very worn with a lot of play in the pivot points. The dimensions of the bushings are .375 id, .500 od, .200 overall length, .062 flange thickness, .837 flange od. (Note: my examples are very worn, so this is my best combination of measurement/estimate). I haven't seen these bushings available on any of the truck part sites, so unless someone can point me to a source, I'll start looking at bushing vendor sites. Pictures below: |

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
this is just one (googgle) place off the net. A little long at .25 but easy to shorten.

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
Thanks for the suggestions!
I'm finding several sources on line but none of them have a flange diameter as large as the originals which are about .837 o.d. The largest I have found so far are .687 o.d. flange diameter. The flange provides the thrust wear surface between the pivoting arms, but if I can't find the larger diameter, I'll probably go with the .687 o.d. |

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
Joining this thread, as I'm really tired of that squeal they make when they dry out.
Thanks for reviving this discussion. Tom

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
FYI, I bought the bushings - that was cheap and easy. Removing old ones also easy. Installing new bushings is some kind of impossible.
Imma give up and just replace the existing setup with rods and rod ends. |

Re: Windshield Wiper Linkage Bushings
I've never used them, (because it rarely rains here) but people say Newport Wipers is a good thing.
