AAW Kit Instrument panel question-diagram doesnt match-I have more lamp ports
What have you guys done here who have bought the American Auto Wire Classic Update kit and found that the instructions dont work for your cluster? I have a tach and a vacuum gauge and the holes that you can see in my pic I assume should have lamps in them. I also assume that they need to have lamps to better illuminate the tach and vacuum? One on top and one below to light it up right?

I would take sockets from your old cluster harness and wire them in. The 2 holes on the bottom are probably for the optional warning indicators typically used on the bigger trucks

Re: AAW Kit Instrument panel question-diagram doesnt match-I have more lamp ports
I had wondered what the lower ones were for, when I shine a flashlight into the lower holes there the bottom of the vac and tach get some illumination from below. The tach up top I actually didnt see alot of light glowing on the top of the tach. I guess the bulb needs to protrude more into that upper port so it glows better. At first I thought I mat have done something wrong on the tach install.

Exactly what Christian said....the two on the bottom are for overspeed and tandem lock I did not wire those into mine and everything that should works. If you need one over your vacuum gauge, just splice a new bulb into the top of that backing plate. I may take out the overspeed plastic piece and make a new one and make it a brake warning light or something similar.

I used one for check engine and the other one for cruise control There kit does not come with the two lights for the tack and vacuum they will sell them to you separately or as someone else said Rob a couple from your old harness

I added the 3 additional from the old harness. I have some LED bulbs on the way. So until they get here Ill try and tidy this spaghetti up.
