I think I have had to repair and engine that guy worked on in the past.

I have seen a small block head in person that someone tried to pull with the manifold still on it. took all the bolts they could see out and used a monster pry bar to pop the head off. Broken right though the line of the bottom bolts. It was in a friends machine shop a few years ago.
