Heater control knob
Lost my heater control knob during restoration (pictured below)
Haven't found one yet on Brothers, LMC or ebay. Any ideas? |

Re: Heater control knob
Just the knob itself or the whole cable/switch assembly?

Re: Heater control knob
Just the knob. I may have found an acceptable one from vintage air.
Lower right hand knob in the pic below. I'll hafta call and check shaft size and whether it has a set screw. |

Re: Heater control knob
I bought a nice billet one on eBay for mine but wasn’t concerned with it looking original.

Re: Heater control knob
Could you use a wiper knob with the set screw in the base for that?

Re: Heater control knob
Maybe.
The shaft size on the wiper knob is larger than the heater control shaft but perhaps I could fill it with JB weld or comparable and re-drill for the smaller shaft size. |

Re: Heater control knob
Okay, I got the problem solved - YAY !!!!!!
Well, maybe. The reproduction radio knob should work. Same shaft size with a flat and set screw. Last edited by dream66; 12-01-2020 at 03:21 PM. |

Re: Heater control knob
Think that's the headlight unit?

Re: Heater control knob
Not according to LMC or NPD websites. The headlight knob is pre-mounted on a triangular shaped shaft.

Re: Heater control knob
Those knobs are pretty decent. Not quite original but I bought some for my Vintage Air kit and decided to complete the look by doing them all.

Re: Heater control knob
My aftermarket choke knob has the set screw, radio knob is usually is a slip on. I bought a choke knob from The Truck Shop in Orange it was exactly as the one you show. I plan on getting their radio knob set and will not be happy if if it's a set screw set up. I'm sure it will ruin their day.

Re: Heater control knob
Well whaddya know. My parts donor truck had the heater knob still on it and it looks EXACTLY like the radio knob with a set screw pictured above except without the chrome trim.
Since I ordered the rest of the knobs with chrome trim, the radio knob I ordered should work. |

Re: Heater control knob
Update: The pic of the radio knob that I posted is WRONG !!! The new radio knobs arrived and they do not have set screws.
val1gonzales is correct. The knobs with the set screws are wiper knobs. So...I'm going to modify the extra radio knob by adding a set screw...maybe. To be continued.................. |
