Pulled the 235 Oil pan...any steps before I put it back?
I pulled the oil pan on my project. Not too sludgy, no metal, so far so good. Of course things are covered in black crust and such, its a 60 year old engine.
I'm not planning on removing this engine or rebuilding it. Is there anything at all I can/should do at this step before cleaning all mating surfaces and reinstalling the pan? Clean/replace crusty black oil pickup? Or leave it be... Any key areas to inspect while on my back under the truck? I've been told not to disturb the crust unless I plan on cleaning everything completely during a rebuild, but I want to make sure when I put this pan on, it's not coming off.

Alright based on the overwhelming majority of your feedback, everyone seems to be recommending cleaning/testing/replacing if needed for the oil pump assembly. Thanks everyone!
