I have owned a lot of '67-'72 Chevy trucks and looked at a lot more in the junkyards. I've only seen two trucks that had the in bed spare bracket and neither one of those had any of the hardware on them.... LockDoc

Re: in bed spare tire mount
I've heard the hardware is impossible to find. I just used threaded rod and some nuts on mine to secure the wheel.

Re: in bed spare tire mount
Both of the 69's I've owned have had them and as far as hardware it's just a big carriage bolt and nut. Well that's all mine have had.

Re: in bed spare tire mount
I don't have one yet, but have been looking. I'll make the rest of the hardware if needed. It is my favorite spot for a spare.....jmo

We ordered the in the box spare tire carrier (RPO P13) with every truck we purchased (about a dozen square bodies). For the stepside versions we would fabricate our own bracket by recycling the underbed carrier and cutting a slot in it. (Drilling holes in my brand new pickup box side was a bit intense). K

Re: in bed spare tire mount
I snagged one from a midsixties truck just for grins. It needs work.
As far as hardware goes, I'm thinking a big galvanized (7/16"-1/2"?) carriage bolt from the home store and a fabbed wing nut that can be locked somehow. |

I know where a complete one is from 71 c20, I had no idea they were of value.

Re: in bed spare tire mount
The mount is on the spid and it is on the truck left front of bed.Maybe someone can chime in as to oem or not.The bolt is a carriage bolt and the bracket holding it is rounded out a bit. Looks like you could fabricate the bolt and bracket it is in if you have the mount that bolts to the bed

Re: in bed spare tire mount
Looks like a factory installed RPO P13 tire carrier to me. Someone has modified it with the whole bolted on adapter. Normally its just a big carriage bolt that slides in the track and the verticle hole is just a hanger storage hole when a wheel assembly is not mounted.

Re: in bed spare tire mount
The carriage bolt is there never thought to put it in the verticle slot. It does'nt fit the 6 lug very well where it's at. Thanks again SS Tim( and for your previous posts on this matter.(Your spending way to much time on this).Well It is much appreciated!!!

Re: in bed spare tire mount
Yep, A carriage goes right into the track. At the top heads up, just push the head sideways through the slot and pull it along the track holding the tail.

Re: in bed spare tire mount
Old thread renewed!
I have one of these P13 carriers I'm installing in my 85 K30. I'm looking for an OEM 9/16 carriage bolt. I actually have a factory bolt and nut from a 1977 C1500 that I would barter. Does anyone have a 73-up fleet 8' with one factory installed that can give me locational dimension along top rail from round of headboard to center of forward mount hole? Or... Any factory documentation for location, installation instructions. Was there any precision to location on factory install? Keith Seymore?
