Re: fuel filler delete
Do you mean to cover the hole in the cab where the fuel tank is/was filled from? I've only ever seen that hole welded shut. I'll be interested to see the answer to your question. Always something to learn.

Re: fuel filler delete
Yeah, I've only seen people weld their own patch in there. Never seen a piece to purchase.

Re: fuel filler delete
There are a couple of vendors that have them but save your ten bucks and do your own. The patches don't fit that well, anyway.

Re: fuel filler delete
I got one from LMC and I liked it. It even had the slight crown to it that matched the body contour.

Re: fuel filler delete
Mine has a tennis ball but it will have to be changed because the colour is fading.

Re: fuel filler delete
Kind of dumb, but my main motivation for doing the delete was the day I went to the gas station, removed the old fill cap, shoved the nozzle into in the cab and damn near squeezed the handle. Right about there is when I thought "Wait a minute that went in there too easy, what am I thinking!"
What can I say, 15 years of doing that way is a hard habit to break I guess. |

Re: fuel filler delete
There's probably an easy way to screw a plate to the underside of the cap from inside so that the cap can be turned but not pulled.
I just cut my own cover and welded it in place. New filler spout is in the rear stake pocket. |

Re: fuel filler delete
I kind of think of the gas filler cap as one of the iconic things about these trucks. If I ever took the gas tank out of the cab, I’d keep it there for looks. Same thing with the hand parking brake and tailgate chains. Love those details.

Re: fuel filler delete
I've seen the original looking plugs that go into the hole. Here is an aftermarket unit - https://www.brotherstrucks.com/1967-...tinfo/BFC72SM/

Re: fuel filler delete
Yep, and even better in my opinion when still functional. I jumped onto the whole moving the tank bandwagon myself, but all I really did was trade a valuable spot for a spare tire for a place to store jackets and crap behind the seat. It doesn't add any legroom really and if I had to do it over again I would think twice about it.

Re: fuel filler delete
I have seen where someone has left the empty tank behind the seat and cut out the front and made shelves for storage. I may have seen it on this forum.
