sanden 508 upgrade

Hello all,

Finally giving up and the R4 turd and installing a 508 sanden. The sandens are listed with 7 or 8 groove pulleys. Anyone have insight on which will cause less problems?

Am I over thinking it?

Thanks,
Chris

I currently have 6,,, was going to order vintage air a 7 groove. Called and they confirmed it was a new Sanden and not a knock off.

Re: sanden 508 upgrade

Hello again,

WHo has done thisupgrade and how many tweeks did it require.

Here is my short list for the "bolt on" conversion.

From Dirty Dingo I orderd;
a new 508 made in USA.
billet manifold end so i could use the OE lines.
bracket kit

1- the lines exiting the rear of the comprressor interfer with the map sensor bracket stuff.
2- line set interferes with the dipstick.
3-liquid line is short.

4 if i leave the sanden head and fittings on they interfere with the air cleaner.

Ideally i would like a few modifications as possible so off the shelf items work in the future. I hate to start hacking at parts only to find another short coming.

Is there a bracket that lifts the sanden up/out a little more to clear the valve cover and map?

thanks,
Chris

Re: sanden 508 upgrade

I bought a set of brackets on eBay and they worked out great.

The brackets that i bought work well. The billet manifold to use OE hoses did not. Still have to make or extend the high/liquid line.

I went to my ac shop yesterday and they are a month out from taking any new work.

Buy the beadlock fitting tool (71500) and a beadlock hose kit on eBay, then you can make your own.
