Car stereo ideas

Well today I got my 83 Stepside on the road, it drives very nice. Slow but nice.

My next big project is to get a stereo installed. Besides dialing it in to its current configuration.

Has anyone put a flip out screen single din in a truck? Did it fit alright, and not block up the ac controls to much? Favorite brand.

My doors have 6x9 cut outs in the doors, and I plan to reuse them. In addition to that how are kick panel speakers vs dash speakers?

I am keeping the bench seat, and put a old behind the seat fuel tank in. Which I have converted to a storage unit. So no behind the seat speakers.

No plans or wants of a Amp or any speakers bigger then a 6x9. Although I am interested in a back up camera if a fold out double din works easily enough.

Any ideas? Or things you have done that you liked.

My last 4 square body's either had a AM single speaker or no radio. It has been 20 years since I have had a decent stereo in one.

Re: Car stereo ideas

I’ve got 6x9 in the cab corners and 3.5 in the dash that are all run by a small Alpine amp in the dash where the factory single speaker used to go. The amp is really easy to install with a Alpine stereo because it just plugs into the radio harness with no additional wiring needed. Don’t know about flip out screen. I got the cheap $100 Alpine with no CD player. It has blue tooth for phone. Recently added a powered sub under the seat. It sounds pretty good. It sounded a little better when I had a 10 inch sub and amp behind the seat. But I got tired of having no storage space behind the seat. Was trying to get the best sound I could get without taking up all the space behind the seat.

6x9 brackets came from board member Big Block 73. They are nice.
