Got out for a rare trip in the truck
I've been living in the country for 4 years. There's a gravel road and I'm 30 min from town. That combo has not made me want to drive my truck much, compared to when I lived in the suburbs with the truck, before.
I just sold my place, and am moving back into the city soon. But today, I managed to get out with my daughter to pick up some supplies for her 2nd birthday coming up. We loved every mile. Back home. The black one is my Dad's factory 71 BB SWB with AC. Blazer in the back is 1970 2wd. Last edited by Ekliptix; 07-25-2021 at 12:15 AM. |

Nice looking trucks. If you're ever up in Edmonton feel free to shoot me a message, might get my truck on the road someday lol.

I think you should drive your truck more often.

Re: Got out for a rare trip in the truck
I'm just glad to see more pictures of your truck! Well, also glad you'll get to drive it more.
Too bad you couldn't live in the country where you could get the truck to the road better. I know that scenario, been there. Although I don't prefer living close to the road, that was the compromise for my rides. I didn't want the maintenance of a long lane and wanted to keep my vehicles clean. I used to live back some pretty rough lanes. I didn't care when I only drove rough and tumble 4wds.

Beautiful truck and daughter, before you know she will be old enough to drive, they grow up so fast.

Re: Got out for a rare trip in the truck
I'll have the C10 when she can drive, but probably not the blazer.
I have LOVED living in the country, it's how I was raised until I left home. The chores and maintenance are familiar and therapeutic for me. My new place in town will dramatically reduce my debt, plus it has a 3 car attached with 13' tall ceilings. Only 20' deep though. I'm planning to put 2x 4-post lifts in, waterproof vinyl plan floors (woodgrain), new cabinets, a winch on the ceiling, etc. As far as city garages, it'll definitely do. Now I just need to figure out how to teach my daughter (and younger son) a strong work ethic when there's so few chores in a city home!

Re: Got out for a rare trip in the truck
Always loved the stance on your truck. When you changed to white walls it really sets if off from the crowd.
Your kiddo is growing fast, I remember when you posted a pic of your wife here on the board getting close to having her. And now you have a son too ... Congrats to you and your wife.

Re: Got out for a rare trip in the truck
I don't often utter things like "oh my", but that Blazer made me do it. Blessings to your family in your new home.

Re: Got out for a rare trip in the truck
Man what a collection!
I hear ya about living on gravel roads and the downside of that. Photo of pushing snow with the tractor ... exact same deal here. My '72 is close to being ready to get out on the road but have about 1.5 km / 1 mile of gravel road that is steep hill for 50% of it. Live in the country about 30 mins outside Ottawa. Climbing will be spitting rocks and chipped paint for sure or go with small flaps x4 to protect somewhat but terrible appearance. Lesser of two evils I guess ... dunno which way I'll go. |

Re: Got out for a rare trip in the truck
Have you thought about putting on the clear film? Virtually invisible, and you could do it just below the trim line.

Re: Got out for a rare trip in the truck
Hadn't considered the clear film as an option so will look more into that.
Thanks for the good tip! |
