Wrong clutch

I think I bought the wrong clutch for my ‘66 k10 and now the throw out bearing doesn’t want to throw out. The old clutch disc shaft/spline extended about 1/2-3/4 of an inch on the flywheel side of the disc. The new one is the same on both sides. Extends just past the springs in the clutch disc. Anyone else experience this?

I think there is a tall and a short throw out bearing. My new clutch came with a throw out bearing that was different than my old one - I don't remember which way - but I used the throw out that came with the clutch and all is good. Do a search on here for throw out bering and you will see the difference.

There is 2 different clutch styles with different throw out bearings. I didn't realize that until I swapped in a different engine with the different clutch that was in better shape.

The shorter bearing is for the 3 finger clutch, the taller one is for the diaphragm type

There’s actually 4 clutch styles.
3 wide finger type which is called a borg and beck. Usually used in 1 ton and up trucks.
3 small finger called a long style. Normally used in fords.
Flat finger diaphragm.
Raised finger diaphragm.
Flat finger uses a tall tob, raised finger uses a short tob.

Thanks guys for the replies. These suggestions make sense to me. I will try to find a 1.125 id long throw out bearing.
