55.2-59 Door hinge help

All my door hinges only have the 2 bolts door side but look to need a bolt in the recessed part of the pocket. Anything special I need to know? The top on both sides has a floating nut to capture the bolt. The bottom does not. Would i just use a nut on those?

the middle bolt should have a captured nut just like the top and bottom bolts, you can just nut it
58truk still had the cage, but i had to twist off the rusted bolts and had to make a new square nut
not sure why you had to adjust the hinge so high, something is not right

Just a thought, do you have the hinges in the correct places?

I see that aftermarket hinges swap side to side but do original hinges?

tehinges need to be bolted to the front of the hnge pillar but it really doesn't matter if you have a caged nut there or not, a regular bolt and nut with appropriate washers will work as well. since the doors should be adjusted to the cab with the fenders off, to ensure they fit the cab opening, and the fender edge isn't messing with your head on how you could possibly cheat it here or there, the space where the fastener is located on the front side of the hinge pillar will be easily accessible for a wrench etc. if you are gonna cheat it and leave the fenders on then you may still be able to get a wrench on the nut from inside the fender. or you could get some 3/8 fine thread floating cage nuts and weld them on so they are centered on the cab hole.

upper hinge: the bolt goes into the hinge from the inside of the door opening into a caged nut.
lower hinge: the bolt goes into the hinge from the front side of the door hing pillar, caged nut or just a regular nut there.

So just for reference purposes, I rotated the pictures. Did I put the hinge picture in the correct orientation, or is it upside down?

My doors are most definitly not correct. We were looking at them out of curiosity. Neither shut right currently

Thank you. So my front fenders are currently off. So I will try to do the doors 1st then. Welding a nut sounds good but I'll check with dad.

my 2 cents
-rebuild or buy new hinges if yours are loose at all. if rebuilding ensure you get a pin and bushing set that fits tight, a little play at the bushing is a lot of movement at the latch end of the door. point being get that end of the door nice and tight to start with
-remove the latch on the door post so as you adjust the door the latch is not pulling the door into it's final resting place. you want the door to be adjusted to fit correctly and the latch just keeps it closed
-I usually install stuff loose enough so I can adjust a few things by hand or dead blow hammer to get a rough fit. then tighten slightly more. using some masking tape and marking heights with a pencil can help so you have an idea of where you started and which way you move stuff by how much. adjust the doors with the fenders off and get it to fit the door opening all the way around and body line at the rear.

I wouldn't weld a nut on, you'd never be able to adjust the door again

For mr48, only upper and lower hinges, they fit either side
