57 235 distributor parts
I have another question about finding parts for my 235 original distributor. I have a couple original distributors and both have the insulators broken where the power goes in. See pic. Anyone know where I may be able to find these?
Thanks in advance

Re: 57 235 distributor parts
on another distributor, haha.
you may have to make something from another engine work. maybe a farm tractor supply place, ford 8n tractor or maybe a vw bosch distributor part would be available as there is a niche market for that stuff so maybe a primary insulator bushing from something like that? https://thirdgenauto.com/product/nos...ing-insulator/ https://www.stevenstractor.com/home/...lator-kit.html or maybe something newer but generic https://techspan.ca/details/techspan...e-bushings-589 or a genuine ac/delco part could be made to work https://www.steinertractor.com/ABC49...ound-Shoulder- https://newparistractor.com/product/...nsulator-9102/ https://www.amazon.com/Distributor-T.../dp/B01N47YQSM or maybe some simple nylon screw insulator bushings could be made to work if all else fails. really all the bushing does is insulate the screw so the primary wire doesn't short out. you could make something from a plastic dowel if you ran a long machine screw through it with a few washers and a nut to keep it tight on the shaft, then chucked up in your drill and you carefully use a file to make the shape you need while the drill is acting as your lathe. drill a small hole in a piece of wood to support the far end for better control. https://www.jetpress.com/component-a...rew-insulators hope that helped and you find something to work |

Re: 57 235 distributor parts
Cool.
If that doesn't work you might contact Jim Linder aka GMC Bubba http://www.bubbasignition.com/ And very politely ask if he might have those pieces in his stash and then be extremely patient. He was the go to distributor rebuild for older rigs for Hamb guys for years but some serious health issues have caused him to really step back and let his helpers. Still he does have a lot of parts for old distributors.
