F150/250 Bed Tank for 1950 3100?
Im looking for a tank that will drop in without cutting out crossmembers and provide a side fill. I came across a person on Facebook that used a mid 90s F250 tank and was wondering if anyone else here has done the same or heard of others using it? I attached some pictures and would like to hear what people think of it.

no idea if it'll work, 2 comments on that install:
hanger cross members look really light. i'd definitely up the size convoluted radiator hose for filler neck? not

If that's the hose you're going to use, I'd check compatibility with gas. It could dissolve the hose without you knowing it until one day and your whole fuel system may need to be cleaned out.

I'm hoping those are pics he got off the internet of the other guys truck...but like stated...dont use a radiator hose for gas..
But I like that tank, it looks really nice...very similar to the S- blazer tank... I was surprised when I looked it up that it's only 18gal...my blazer tank is 19gal

That radiator hose he has on that one won't survive gas for too long. That's just radiator flex hose.
I've got the tank off a 74 F150 bought the 3.55 limited slip nine inch out of a couple of years ago that has the original Ford filler neck on it. My only concern is the ohm rating of the sending unit vs the gauge I have. The regular rear tank (F150) is 19 gallons and Fuel Tank -- 34-3/4 in. x 27 in. x 8-1/8 in. They make one that is 38 gallons but it is 13-3/4 deep and would hang down a long ways on anything that didn't have a raised bed to clear a notch.

I forgot about that unit. It took about a half hour of searching but I found out that the sender that fits the 19-gallon tank is 10 to 75 ohms.

A new tank with new sender and pump runs about 260-275 new which seems decent to me. I really like the Tank inc tanks they have one that sits perfectly between the two rear crossmembers but after adding a new pump and sender it was up to 500. Im sure it is higher quality and it is baffled but for now its out of my budget.
Since the F150 tank has a high pressure pump a bypass/return valve would be need as well since I am running a carburetor. Any recommendations on a bypass valve? Tank inc. has a kit but its 300. |

73/79 F series pickups had carbs. No high pressure pump in tank. About 150/200 for a new tank and sending unit.
The tanks come either with a vent hose connection next to the filler neck or the hole in top of the tank to put the emissions vent valve that connects to the hose that goes to the canister in.

I think the fit is real close to the later tank you showed in post 1. The tanks are pretty the same width and length. Depth depends on how many gallons
For show and tell only this Ebay one is the non ECC one that doesn't have the fitting on top for the vent and it uses a vented cap. https://www.ebay.com/itm/23199783880...Cclp%3A2047675 This one is what you might call the Cali version of the same tank. A little later in that run of 70's carbed F 150 https://www.ebay.com/itm/37141536115...Cclp%3A2047675 If I have a chance before my wife drags me off shopping tomorrow I'll get a shot or two of the one I have. That may be a mock up tank as it really smells like rotten gas. I've got a mid 70's Blazer tank but it is pretty deep compared to the F 150 tank.

I went out and took a couple of photos but didn't take the tiedown strap off the frame to set the tank down further. The wind was pretty cold to want to play with it very long.
Along with the filler to the side rather than under the bed the good Thing is that the way it is set up in the lead photos you only have the tank hanging maybe 4 inches below the frame rail if that with the stock rear crossmember in place. My plan has always been to replace that crossmember with a tube crossmember further back between the bumper bracket bolts. This the left side of my old bed off my 48 that has a hole I made for a tank filler for the rear tank I have in the truck now. The filler neck for that tank is over towards the middle (20 gallon RV auxiliary tank) and it was a case of can't get there from here after I cut the hole.
